Along with its sister company, P&O Cruises Australia they have the oldest heritage of any cruise line in the world, – dating right back to P&O’s first passenger operations in 1837, so they have plenty of experience of providing cruises of all types in all corners of the globe.

Continuing to grow in popularity and with a fleet of 6 prestigious cruise ships they do have some, albeit very limited number of single cabins with no single supplements for independent travellers.

With an average of around 17 single cabins, some without single supplements on each ship, their single cabins get booked up way in advance so if you do get the opportunity you’ll need to think about booking this year, taking advantage of their standard early bird discounts to get one of the few single cabins for cruises sailing one, or even two years ahead.

With single cabin prices increasing as sailing dates get nearer, last minute discounts for single cabins already in high demand are highly unlikely, so booking early to get the best solo cruise cabin rates may be the best option.

With easy, accessible transport connections, many of P&Os voyages set sail from Southampton, so with no flights and no hassle you can get your holiday started as soon as you step on board. Offering everything the solo guest could need, single cabins provide the space and facilities you would expect from single room, with the Arcadia, Britannia and Iona also having some higher-grade single cabins with their own private balcony space.

P&O Cruises – what they do

As you would expect, with fantastic facilities and plenty to do P&O Cruises run a series of cruises to hundreds of ‘must see’ destinations cruising in the Mediterranean the Caribbean and many more oceans right across the world. Cruises range from two night breaks across the English Channel to 7 night cruises in Norway with its breath taking scenery through to the Aurora Grand Odyssey World cruise taking in more than 25 different countries. They also run a series of different cruise holiday types, from Short Breaks, Food Heroes and Strictly Come Dancing themes through to Christmas cruises and more. So, all sorts of cruises and destinations as well as themes to suit pretty much all sorts of budgets.

More about P & O Cruises Single Cabins – the bottom line

P&O Cruises offers single cabins on all six of its vessels; the Iona, Britannia, Azura and Ventura on P&Os ‘Family Friendly Ships’ as well as the Acardia and Aurora, its two ‘Exclusively for Adults’ ships.
Unlike other holiday providers sites, it’s not possible to search for single cabins on the Find & Book function at the moment and P&O don’t seem to publicise them. Although you can use the Advance Filter to search by Balcony, Inside, Seaview & Suite cabin type, single cabins are not straight forward to find. This also makes it difficult to compare single cabin and double cabin prices and find which single cabins have no single supplements., so you’ll need to sit down with a coffee to swot up on the prices.

P&O’s solo cruise cabin sizes and layouts vary by ship, but all come with oversized single beds and standard amenities with space saving showers rather than baths. With so much to do on board and off shore you won’t be spending much time in your cabin. Here’s a quick rundown of the single cabins on each ship:

‘EXCLUSIVELY FOR ADULTS’ CRUISE SHIPS

MS ACARDIA One of two ‘Exclusively for Adults’ cruise ships Arcadia’s signature features include exterior glass-fronted lifts and an ‘expansive art collection featuring no less than 3,000 works of art to create a sophisticated air’. Starting her holidays from Southampton MS Arcadia cruises across the world offering Short Breaks; Baltic cruises; British Isles holidays; trips to Norway and Iceland; Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands; the Mediterranean; Caribbean and North America and Canada. With a normal operating capacity of 2,094 guests MS Arcadia is home to 952 cabins including Inside, Sea view, Deluxe Balcony, Mini-suite, Suite, Single and Family cabins.

MS Aurora Single Cabin No single supplements

MS AURORA P&O Cruises second ‘exclusively for adults ship recently refitted in 2019, MS Aurora is classed as a mid-sized ship with a normal operating capacity of 1,874 guests and home to 960 cabins including Inside, Sea view, Balcony, Deluxe Balcony, Mini-suite, Suite, Single and Family cabins. Sailing from Southampton, Auckland, Brisbane, Dubai, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Singapore and Sydney MS Aurora covers the world with a World Cruise and Epic Journey Holiday included in its schedules.
Single outside: 4 cabins (150 sq ft) on Decks 9 and 11
Single balcony: 6 cabins (179 sq ft) on Deck 8

‘FAMILY FRIENDLY’ CRUISE SHIPS

With a normal operating capacity of 5,200 guests she’s home to 2,610 cabins including Inside, Sea view, Balcony, Deluxe Balcony, Conservatory Mini-suite, Suite and Single & Family cabins.
MS Iona has 22 single cabins dotted around the ship in pairs. The single inside cabins have handy midship locations and the single balcony cabins are located towards the aft (back) of the ship.

MS BRITANNIA – with capacity for 3,647 guests MS Britannia is home to 1,836 cabins including Inside, Balcony, Superior Deluxe Balcony, Suite, Single and Family cabins. Recently returned from its first ever refit MS Britannia sails from Southampton, Barbados and St Lucia to Northern European and Mediterranean countries as well as the Caribbean.
Considered the best P&O Cruises ship for single travellers Britannia has the most single cabins, – all located on a single corridor on the Lido Deck making it easier for solo travellers to meet.

MS AZURA – sailing from either Barbados or Valletta in Malta MS Azura sails around the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. With a normal operating capacity of 3,100 guests she’s home to 1,557 cabins including Inside, Sea view, Balcony, Superior Deluxe Balcony, Suite, Single and Family cabins. Although there are no single balcony cabins on this ship all the single cabins are located on a single corridor alongside the atrium – a very handy spot for getting around the ship and good for meeting other single passengers.

MS IONA P&O Cruises newest cruise vessel due to be launched in 2021 is the first British cruise ship to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), ‘our greenest, largest and most innovative ship yet’ complete with a luminous glass-roofed SkyDome and on-board gin distillery. Sailing from Southampton the Iona will cruise to Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands, Northern European City Escapes and Norwegian Fjords.

Ventura single cabin P&O Cruises

VENTURA MS Ventura has a normal operating capacity of 3,078 guests and is home to 1,555 cabins including Inside, Sea view, Balcony, Superior Deluxe Balcony, Suite, Single and Family cabins. Sailing from Southampton MS Ventura offers Baltic cruises, cruises to Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean as well as the Caribbean, North America and Canada. Ventura is a sister ship to Azura, the ships are almost the same and like the Azura, the single cabins are all together on a single corridor.
