Is this, this month’s star food product for one?
Cirio double concentrated tomato puree pods
Great to see that supermarkets and food producers are at last cottoning on to the fact that there’s more than 17 million plus single people in the UK, all looking for innovative ideas and new food products. And yes, most of us trying to avoid highly processed food products, microwave meals and especially BOGOFs’ buy one get one free offers, so thank you, thank you, thank you!
So, if you haven’t already seen them, spotted these brilliant little individual double concentrated tomato puree pods from Cirio in a local supermarket last week.
Is this this month’s star food product? Seems to tick all the right boxes if your cooking for one (or more):
- Great tasting individual portions of good quality double concentrate tomato puree – 4 portions, 70 grams in each. No e numbers, additives or anything else you’ve never heard of; just tomato concentrate.
- Helps to reduce food waste, just the right size for cooking and recipes for one. Can also be stored in the fridge for up to 3-4 days if there’s any left over though.
- No fiddly tubes to mess about with, great for soups, pizza bases, past sauces & all sorts
- Comes in sustainable packaging, packed in small foil containers wrapped in a cardboard sleeve. NO plastic
- Sold in a pack of 4 pods, so an easy ‘double up’ (or more) if you’ve invited your mates or family.
At around £1.25 a pack, around 40p each, a bit more expensive than you might normally pay but less waste and more economical. Looks like there available in Morrison’s, Sainsburys and Waitrose.
PS yes, we do realise it’s a bit mad to get excited about individual portions of tomato puree, but its great to find something new that works for a single portion, that tastes good and really handy for one.
