Whether it’s an hour or an odd day helping at an event or volunteering on a regular basis, all sorts of people, single or not, choose to volunteer for all sorts of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it a chance to learn something new and develop their skills. GEMAU CYMRU – THE WELSH GAMES’

With a vision to inspire young people to continue their learning and development as athletes and citizens across Wales, Gemau Cymru translated as ‘the Welsh Games’ is looking for a small army of volunteers. Known as Wales’ largest annual multi-sports event, they’re looking for all sorts of volunteers everything for competition assistant to administrative assistant for events taking place in a variety of venues across Cardiff on the 6th, 7th & 8th July.  All volunteers get a Gemau Cymru uniform, lunch and refreshments, as well as an opportunity to take in some great sporting action, have fun, develop new skills and experiences and meet new people too. No previous experience is necessary as training will be provided on the day. NATIONAL TRUST ENGLAND, NORTHERN IRELAND & WALES

Set up to preserve the nations cultural heritage and conserve areas of natural beauty in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the National Trust is on the look out for volunteers to help across a wide variety of different inside and outside roles. They’re looking for all sorts, from house volunteers or room guides in some of the country’s most beautiful places through to volunteers to help their expert gardeners, working outside to help keep the gardens in tip top condition. THE NATIONAL TRUST FOR SCOTLAND

As Scotland’s largest conservation charity, the National Trust for Scotland also have a huge ongoing responsibility to nurture Scotland’s natural landscapes, preserve the stunning islands, support the rich wildlife, tend the beautiful gardens, maintain the magnificent castles and conserve the numerous national treasures in their care. A lot to do then, with all sorts of volunteer vacancies from Membership Assistants, Garden Assistants and Guides and Conservation Volunteers needed right across Scotland.

What is a Conservation Volunteer?
Conservation Volunteers (CVs) are a diverse group of people who undertake outdoor work for the National Trust for Scotland on a regular basis. They get  the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people while enjoying some fresh air and exercise. They also get the chance to attend training courses and lectures to enhance their understanding of countryside skills and conservation issues.
